Project Facts

Hongtsho Crematorium

Can the rituals and ceremonies of cremation become something more than tradition — something that rises beyond religion into the realm of art, where loss is felt, shaped, and understood?
This project reimagines the act of cremation as a deeply immersive journey for the bereaved, where each moment unfolds with a quiet, deliberate rhythm — echoing the fragile cadence of the human heart in mourning. At every stage, grief is not suppressed but allowed to breathe, to swell, to soften. It becomes a passage through sorrow and longing, where pain dissolves into reflection, and reflection into a tender acceptance.
Rooted in a Buddhist understanding of impermanence, the experience gently reveals a profound truth: that all things must pass, and within that passing lies not just an end, but a quiet, transformative beauty.
